Magical World

Though Thais are also using fireworks, the main light show is people sending some kind of hot air-balloon called a Khoom Loy. This tradition is typical of the Northern Thais.
The object resembles one of this "Chinese" paper light one can have at home. But it is close on every side except for the bottom part where a small fire is warming the air so the vessel can take off.
There are so many of this vessel that they forms whole "constellations" and a sort of milky way (when the winds are blowing all in the same direction) in the sky. It is an amazing sight!
